Rubber Soul The Beatles

Rubber Soul: The Beatles

Rubber Soul was the Beatles 6th studio album

Released in December 1965 on Parlophone

I came across a tweet a couple of days ago that prompted me over to the This Day in Music website (if you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out so go visit!). There I ended up taking their Very Hard Beatles Quiz, and it is actually quite hard. I kept second guessing myself and answered a couple of questions wrong when I knew the right answer.

Anyway, browsing through the website and taking the quiz got me thinking about one of my favourite LPs – Rubber Soul. I wrote a little about what makes the LP important to me in ‘I, Me, Mine?’, but there’s so much more to be said.

Guess who ? . . .

The actual music might not be my favourite – but many of us already know that isn’t the most important part. It’s easy to forget that part, because music is always so elevated and ‘fancy’. Don’t get me wrong, I freaking love music (even classical music), but I can also tell you part of my life story through Rubber Soul, and that seems more important that whether or not ‘Drive My Car’ is one of the best singles (it’s not). So my top 5 LPs of all time . . . I’m still working on it, but lists like this can’t be rushed . . .

  1. Rubber Soul

  2. Rumours

  3. I don’t know yet, but I hope it’s an LP beginning with R

  4. I don’t know yet, but I look forward to discovering it

  5. I don’t know yet, but these things can’t be rushed

I’m sure I’ll return to Rubber Soul again, but in the meantime you can listen to the whole album on Spotify.
