CHRIS SPEDDING - Cafe Days (F/New Rose '90) after finally delivering the goods on 'Enemy Within' 4 years earlier he outdoes nearly every big name who's ever made a completely wrecked/zonked/gone slab before or since - he sounds like he's already been lowered into the ground & then exhumed, it's loud, skanky, his voice is shot, a miracle his playing isn't & afterwards, excepting session work he didn't get near a studio for 12 years "Hostage", "Catch 22", "Flirt", MOSE ALLISON's "Parchman Farm" EX/M- sw/lite s roc f /s cw $25

TERENCE & TIGHT WIRE - The Eighth Day (Win '82) I was always afraid this was the kinda Lp D.R. HOOKER was gonna come up with. Yup, there's his acidy cosmicrock sound, DORIAN's streetrock edge & PALMER ROCKY's seedy club moves & as always w/these types religion's lurking in the background tho on here it's mostly spelled out in the tunes titles since the only original w/vocals is "The Eighth Day". "Call Of The Spirit" has wordless choral backing, "Chris Is Here Now" (most likely meant to be "Christ Is Here Now") & "Cleaner Than The Board Of Health" are instros. For reasons only he knew "Auld Lang Syne" wraps it up w/the chock full o'fuzz sound &'s likewise let loose on a 9 1/2 min "HENDRIX MEDLEY" recorded badly enough to almost revel in SAINT ANTHONY's FYRE glory…EX slo disc in a plain white cover & since the label says 'The Eighth Day Promotional Album' that's probably all there ever was $750

JOHN THOME - John Does His (Universal '76) He doesn't like it or have any & this's the only known copy of 100 pressed Black Lodge GANDALF THE GREY & while lacking the wired NYC vibe it shares the same loose garagy folkrock sound w/primitive drums/bass backing, echoey vocals & totally lo-fi recording. G was hopeful, this guy's a hopeless sad sack desperate for a girlfriend as he whines on "I'm All Alone", "No Reason To Live", "Let My Sorrow Pass", "Pretty Little Girl", "Nightmares/#73" & 5 more uplifting romps stuffed with heartland bleakness. A 'gotta have it' for anyone lucky enuff with & digging the equally rare CRYSTAL WEBB's "Misty Morning".
